Time To Establish A "Forever" Income - Become A Freelancer
In today's recession and uncertain economy, one should strongly consider serving the public at large in order to make some money. You can earn either enough money to make a solid living on or just a few dollars on the side. You can hire yourself without having to submit to a job interview. Some of the best jobs and careers are never posted in the classified ads. Think about what you are really good at. What are your natural gifts and talents? What are you adept at? Are you a people person? Are you a self-starter? Are you disciplined???
There are so many freelance ventures that you can become involved in. Examples include computer repairing, tutoring, barber, hair braiding, mechanic, dog walking, speech and ghost writing, and so many more. I am personally involved with wedding officiating, basic math tutoring, and income tax preparation. I am also a notary public (who travels out to customers to notarize documents). I love the freedom and flexibility that these business ventures offer me. Most of these involve traveling and dealing with strangers. I love the fact that everyday is unique and different. One day I might be officiating at a wedding. The following day I may be notarizing loan documents at a home equity closing. My favorite part of freelancing is that most of my income comes in the form of cash or money order. I just love that immediate money!!
Of course, as with all things in life, freelancing isn't always perfect. A freelancer does have to deal with a fluctuation of income. There are great months and not so great months! I am learning to diversify the services that I provide. After a couple of dry spells, I do not rely strictly on just one income source. I am constantly looking into new income making opportunities which fit into the context of what I am doing.
Even if you are happy with your full-time job, you would be wise to start something, no matter how small, on the side. You never know...it just may come in handy!
